Terms of Service

1. The agreement

By using the Split Wisely apps or website you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the service. Split Wisely is operated by CognitiveSquad (“we”, “us”).

2. What Split Wisely is (and isn't)

Split Wisely is a record-keeping tool for shared expenses. It is not a bank, wallet, payment processor or money-transfer service. UPI settle-up opens your own UPI app; the transaction is entirely between you and your friend, under your UPI provider's terms. Balances shown in the app are records you and your friends create — not debts we certify, collect or guarantee.

3. Your account

• One person, one account. You can link multiple sign-in methods to it.
• You're responsible for what happens under your account; keep your sign-in methods secure.
• You must be at least 13 (or the age of digital consent where you live).
• Information you enter about expenses should be accurate — your friends see it.

4. Fair use

Don't:

• use Split Wisely for anything unlawful, fraudulent or abusive;
• harass people through expenses, comments, reminders or invites;
• attempt to break, probe or overload the service or bypass its limits (including the free plan's daily cap or Pro entitlement checks);
• upload content you have no right to share, or malware of any kind.

We may suspend accounts that do.

5. Free plan & Pro subscriptions

• The free plan includes up to 5 new expenses per day, resetting at midnight IST.
• Pro costs ₹99/month; Pro AI costs ₹299/month or ₹2999/year (prices in other countries are set by the stores), billed through Google Play or Apple's App Store as an auto-renewing subscription.
• Cancel any time in your store's subscription settings; Pro stays active until the end of the paid period.
• Refunds are handled by the store you purchased through, under their policies.
• A subscription is linked to one Split Wisely account and can't be transferred to another.
• If a subscription lapses, Pro features lock again; your data is never deleted for downgrading.

6. AI features (Pro)

• AI statement import and insights are provided on a best-effort basis: extraction can make mistakes, and you review results before they're saved. Check important numbers against your original statement.
• AI insights are informational only and are not financial, investment, tax or legal advice.
• Only upload statements that are yours or that you're authorised to process.
• Uploads are subject to quotas and file-size limits; raw files are deleted after processing as described in the Privacy Policy.

7. Your content

You own what you put into Split Wisely. You grant us the limited licence needed to store, process and display it to the people you've shared it with — that's the product working, nothing more. Expenses shared with others remain part of their records even if you later leave or delete your account.

8. Service & liability

We work hard to keep Split Wisely fast, correct and available, but it's provided “as is” without warranties. To the maximum extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect or consequential losses, for disagreements between you and your friends about who owes what, or for actions of the app stores and payment systems. Our total liability is capped at the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

9. Ending things

You can stop using Split Wisely any time and delete your account in Settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with notice where practical.

10. Changes, law & contact

We may update these terms; material changes will be announced in the app or by email, and continued use means acceptance. These terms are governed by the laws of India, with courts in India having jurisdiction. Questions: info.walkingbuddies@gmail.com.
